Ryan and Brooke Melconian, owners of Junk King Houston, launched their operations in January 2020, after taking over for longtime operator Marcus Otrowski. The couple has been a part of Junk King since the beginning, with Ryan being one of the first employees for the brand back in 2005. Having grown up with Junk King CEO, Michael Andreacchi, Ryan fell in love with the business model and became a trusted employee. A few years down the line, Ryan moved back to Texas, where he continued his career as an engineer with Union Pacific Railroad, but always had the idea of owning his own business in the back of his mind. Throughout his career, Ryan maintained a steady drive for success and enjoyed found the motivation to overcome challenges along the way. In 2018, Ryan and Brooke began remodeling their Houston home and turned to Junk King for their hauling services. After talking with the previous owner, the Melconians kept in touch until Marcus’ retirement and were ecstatic to rejoin the Junk King family. “I’ve always enjoyed the service side of Junk King and I’m looking forward to interacting with customers and giving them a new, clean space after each job,” said Ryan. For Ryan, Junk King instilled the commitment of recycling and friendly practices from his first day at the company. Taking what he learned and implementing the Junk King values throughout his career, he’s been able to accomplish his professional goals before the age of forty. The recycling and customer service mentality were the driving factors as Ryan launched his own location. “My goal with Junk King Houston is to tap into each community we serve and be able to implement more recycling practices to keep the city looking beautiful and junk free,” Ryan added. Transitioning under the ownership of Ryan and Brooke, the brand is beginning to form new relationships within the community and maintain the positive impact the junk hauling company has seen through the years. “I’ve always wanted to be a business owner and with the help of my wife, Brooke, we are learning every day,” said Ryan.
