Yard Waste Removal in New Orleans: What You Need to Know

Hurricanes and major storms are a common occurrence here in New Orleans. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA), “a hurricane makes landfall within 50 miles of New Orleans about once every seven to 11 years.” Once you factor in tropical depressions and tropical storms, it shouldn't come as a surprise that we are among the top five cities in the United States in terms of vulnerability to hurricanes. Every year, we experience an estimated 11 percent chance of experiencing the impact of a hurricane. Fortunately, the city has made drastic improvements to its levee system since Katrina left most of the city under several feet of water in 2005. Though the chances of major flooding have been drastically reduced, the risk of property and landscaping damage due to hurricanes and other major storms is still a major threat. Junk King of New Orleans is proud to be the region's top-rated junk removal company. As hurricane season comes into full force, we are here to help homeowners, business owners, and other residents of New Orleans with their yard waste removal needs. Whether strong winds have taken down a tree on your property, or minor flooding has ruined a backyard shed, we can help you efficiently and cost effectively get rid of all of your yard waste items.

Junk King of New Orleans: The Most Efficient Yard Waste Removal Service

Here at Junk King of New Orleans, we know that getting rid of yard waste can be a major headache for residents of our city. Though the City government does offer yard waste removal services, the terms and conditions of this service often make it hard (if not impossible) for certain residents of our city to get rid of their yard waste in a timely and efficient manner. According to the City of New Orleans, yard waste includes the following items:

  • Less than 6 bags of leaves, weeds, grass, small vegetation/hedge clippings, with each bag weighing 50 pounds or less;
  • Less than 6 bundles of small tree limbs, with each bundle less than in 4 feet in length and 12 inches in diameter, with each bundle weighing 50 pounds or less.

For people with large yards, bagging your sources of yard waste after a major storm will most likely leave you with several dozen bags or bundles of waste that need to be disposed of. By only accepting five bags or bundles per week, relying on the public trash service for your yard waste removal may turn into a several month ordeal. Having dozens of bags of yard waste stored in your yard, driveway, or in front of your business is most likely not a solution for most people. Additionally, the city requires that yard waste should be bundled and/or bagged, and placed next to the cart on the second collection day of the week. Residents of New Orleans who put out yard waste more than 24 hours before the scheduled pickup may even incur a fine.

No matter what option you choose, as soon as a price is agreed upon, you choose a date and two-hour service window that works for your schedule. Our junk removal professionals will call you 15-30 minutes before we show up to promptly take your junk! Call us today for all of your yard waste removal needs!
